UW Hip-Hop is a open style hip-hop club at the University of Waterloo that aims to create a safe community for dancers of all skill levels to come together and have fun.
WHAT DO I DO?
As the graphic designer, I created graphics for the club's social media platforms; mainly Instagram. The purpose of these graphics is to promote the dance classes that the club holds weekly and to introduce the teacher/choreographer. Occasionally, I create promotional content and audio mixes for the club's events and performances.
As of May 2024, I have been promoted to Creative Director for the Spring 2024 term after my commitment and contributions to growing the club were recognized by the co-presidents.
BRANDING AND GRAPHICS
I work closely with the creative director to ensure that our brand identity remains consistent and that the quality of the graphics are up to standards for the club. Given assets, elements, and a branding guideline, I create these graphics and relay them to the directors and social media coordinators for approval.
The branding for this club is similar to hyperwave, Y2K, and cyber aesthetics, with noticeable inspiration from popular dance arcade game Dance Dance Revolution (DDR).
