ABOUT THIS PROJECT
This short documentary was written and produced by EMS (Ella Ye, Mary Pham, Sophie Kim) for our GBDA 201 final project. For this assignment, we were tasked with creating a short documentary about an individual and conducting a two-camera interview. The person we chose to focus on was Ryan Yang, a third year kinesiology student at the University of Waterloo who was newly appointed as a co-director of ORIGINS in Fall 2023.
Following Ryan Yang, the newly appointed co-director of post-secondary dance crew "Origins", we learn more about what this team means to him and the struggles that he faces behind the scenes.
We documented his passion/motivation for dance through behind-the-scene recordings of dance practices, rehearsals, and performances. We hoped to give viewers deeper insight into his involvement with Origins and the reason why he dedicates so much time and effort to it.
